Rapids' Rivero Breaks Foot, To Miss 2-3 Months

The Colorado Rapids will be without midfield Martin Rivero for the next two to three months due to a broken foot.
Rivero sustained the injury in the 44th minute of the club's first preseason match last Tuesday against the Portland Timbers in Tuscon, Arizona after an awkward collision and will return to Colorado for further medical attention.
Rivero tweeted a picture of his foot in a cast on Tuesday night, writing, "With a lot of anger and pain. now to get ahead! Con mucha bronca y dolor. Ahora a salir adelante!"
The 23 year old joined the Rapids from Argentine Primera B side Rosario Central on a two year loan. last February. He has quickly made himself one of the team's impact players. After missing the first three games of 2012 because of paperwork issues, Rivero started the next 30 of 31 games, scoring 2 goals, leading the team with eight assists and making himself a cornerstone of Pareja's revamped possession-based attack.
The Rapids' recent acquisition Chilean attacking midfield Kevin Harbottle will be used while Rivero recovers.
