Skelton was able to practice two days in a row prior to Thursday's game against the Rams in Week 5. Skelton is still listed as questionable and it's likely Kevin Kolb will start.

"He's taken the next step as far as being on the field and running again," said coach Mike Munchak. "How he responds Thursday and how much more he can do Thursday. There's no doubt he's going to have to improve the next couple of days to help us on Sunday. But at least he's headed in the right direction."

Hopefully he can play at a very high level this weekend," said coach Mike Shanahan.

National Football League Foot Injuries


Arizona Cardinals
Kerry Rhodes, FS
Rhodes collected his first sack of the season in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles. His foot injury appears to have cleared and he has participated in full practice.

Skelton told the team's website that he's doing much better, but he isn't ready to come back yet. He has been a limited participant in practices over the week for Week 4 against Miami.

Forte returned to practice on Wednesday and believes he can play in Week 4 against Dallas. "I went through all the routes and everything. I can sprint. So I'll be good to go," said Forte. Coach Lovie Smith isn't quite as optimistic though: "We have said he's making progress every days, which he is, and it's no more than that. But I would hold off on... he's got a long ways to go still, but he is making progress and hopefully we will get him out there."

It's got to take some time off to heal up properly and to get back out there to full strength."

National Football League Foot Injury Update


Arizona Cardinals
John Skelton, QB
Skelton is recovering from a low ankle sprain suffered in Week 1 and has yet to practice. He is not expected to start in Week 2 against the Patriots.

Adrian Wilson, SS
Wilson has an undetermined ankle injury and has limited practice. Questionable for Week 2 against the Patriots.
Carolina Panthers
Jonathan Stewart, RB
Stewart practiced for the first time in two weeks on Wednesday. He says he is limited, but he is progressing. Coach Ron Rivera told the New Orleans press Stewart will be back this week, then told Carolina reporters that Stewart looked good in practice, but will be evaluated over the next few days. We'll see at game time if Stewart plays or not.

Iloka hurt his ankle in the first half of Week 1 against the Ravens and did not return. He has been in limited practice.

Something unforeseen happens that's probably the only chance he'd have to play in the game Thursday night," said McCarthy.

"The trainers saw how confident I was and they allowed me to go Monday. I did everything besides special teams. It felt good, I just went out there to see what I could do and see if I had any limitations. I didn't aggravate it today and it felt good. I feel like I'm still not running how I used to but I still feel good out there," said Amukamara.

National Football League Foot Injury Update

Steve Smith, WR
Smith returned to practice on Sunday, after recovering from a foot infection that kept him out for two weeks. "He went back to his normal practice mode- 100 percent, all the time," said coach Ron Rivera. "So it was a lot of fun watching Steve back on the football field." Rivera expects Smith to be back for Week 1 against Tampa Bay.

Jonathan Stewart, RB
Stewart did not participate in the team's official practice Wednesday, but coach Rivera is optimistic he'll be able to play Week 1. Stewart hasn't practiced since spraining his ankle in a preseason game on August 26 against the Jets.
Cincinnati Bengals
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB
Green-Ellis is ready for Week 1's game against the Raven, expected to carry most of the carries. Whatever the coaches have in mind for him though, Green-Ellis is ready. "That might not be the gameplan. Whatever it is, that's what I'm going to do. If they want me to run, I'm going to run. If they want to pass, I'm going to block."

Foote's ankle was just tweaked, and practiced on Thursday. He should be fine for Sunday's game against Denver.

National Football League Foot Injury Update

Atlanta Falcons
Corey Peters, DT
Peters has missed all of training camp and preseason with a left foot injury. The earliest Peters can return is October 28 against Philadelphia. He must sit out the first six games.
Carolina Panthers
Steve Smith, WR
Smith is expected to play in the Panther's first regular season game against the Bucs. Smith had been recuperating from a foot infection.

Stewart was taken off the field during the Panther's second preseason game against the Jets with an ankle injury. He suffered the injury on a 7 yard run when he was knocked out of bounds and immediately grabbed his leg. Stewart stayed on the ground for a few moments before being attended to by the team's trainers and heading to the locker room. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Stewart's x-rays came back negative.
Chicago Bears
Julius Peppers, DE
Peppers has been playing through plantar fasciitis in one of his feet. Peppers doesn't believe the injury to be a problem for the beginning of the season.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB
Green-Ellis has been practicing in full pads since Sunday when the media was there, but his status for the preseason finale was up in the air.

Stark's progress has been slow. Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that Starks is not healing as quickly as hoped and is unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season. Starks has been sidelined since the Packer's preseason openers with a lingering turf toe injury. "James Starks, just talking to the medical staff, is coming along slow. So we'll just continue to treat him. He hasn't made a whole lot of progress here of late," said McCarthy.
